US Air Force soldiers assigned to KFOR's Regional Command East conducted an airstrike of US infantry troops in support of an independent patrol in northern Kosovo, along the border with Serbia.
KFOR said that this type of exercise is "essential for maintaining readiness and interoperability between units, as well as for maintaining the necessary effectiveness in KFOR operations for a safe environment for all communities living in Kosovo," A2 reports.
KFOR reiterated that it continues to implement its mandate – based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 – to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo, as well as to guarantee freedom of movement, at all times and in an impartial manner.
KFOR works in close cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo EULEX, in accordance with their respective roles as responsible for security. (A2 Televizion)
