Two men died on Monday morning in Gjakova, Kosovo Police announced, according to local media reports, in which the victims were described as construction workers.
Kosovo Police spokesman for the Gjakova region, Sheremet Elezaj, was quoted as saying that the victims fell from a height of a building that was under construction, and were unable to cope with their injuries.
Police have arrived at the scene and it has been announced that investigations are underway to clarify the case.
In the past, leaders of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo (BSPK) have expressed concern about, as they put it, the difficult conditions that construction workers face at work.
The Law on Occupational Safety and Health emphasizes that safety, worker training, and proper instructions for the use and maintenance of equipment and machinery are obligations that every employer must implement for its employees.
According to the Labor Inspectorate's report for 2024, seven cases of workplace deaths were recorded last year./ REL (A2 Televizion)
