A construction worker has died after falling from the roof of the building where he was working.
In this case, the supervisor and the investor of the works were interviewed as suspects and then detained for 48 hours, said the Kosovo Police.
Prizren regional police said the victim, N.Xh, around 40 years old, was from Drenas. After falling from a height, he was rushed to the Prizren regional hospital, but did not survive his injuries.
"The police responded immediately to the case, taking the first investigative actions and taking testimony from the people present at the scene," the announcement said.
The State Prosecutor has instructed that criminal proceedings be initiated in this case for the offense: "Destruction, damage or removal of protective equipment and endangering safety in the workplace."
In addition to the case in Prizren, five people have died in the workplace in Kosovo in recent days, four of whom from accidents.
In Gjakova, two people lost their lives at the same construction site.
The Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo has previously expressed concern about, as it put it, the difficult conditions that construction workers face at work.
The Law on Occupational Safety and Health emphasizes that safety, worker training, and proper instructions for the use and maintenance of equipment and machinery are obligations that every employer must implement for its employees.
