Serbia is prepared to make "very difficult compromises" with Kosovo. This is what Serbian Minister for European Affairs, Nemanja Starovic, said. In an interview with the Austrian News Agency, APA, the senior Serbian official said that Belgrade wants to "fully normalize" its relations with Pristina.

“Belgrade is ready to engage in dialogue with Pristina. But it cannot be a zero-sum game in which one side loses everything so that the other side gains everything. It has to be a compromise. It is a big challenge and we are fully aware of that. But we are also aware that the European Union has always applied practical and creative solutions when it comes to relations between the EU and Kosovo. Let us take as an example Cyprus which became an EU member in 2004 despite the unresolved conflict over the northern part of the country occupied by Turkey ,” said Nemanja Starovic.

Starovic criticized Albin Kurti for the arrest of Igor Popovic, which he said was in violation of the 2012 Brussels Agreement, which gives representatives of Serbian authorities the right to visit Kosovo with prior notice. He accused the acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, without evidence, of developing domestic politics at the expense of the Serbian community.

"Having lost his majority in the last elections, he is in office only for a technical mandate and cannot fulfill his campaign promises regarding the economy or the fight against corruption. The only thing he can offer his voters is the oppression of the Serbian community in Kosovo," said Nemanja Starovic.

The deputy head of the so-called Kosovo office in Belgrade was arrested while attending a memorial ceremony for the massacre of Kosovo Serbs and now faces up to eight years in prison. (A2 Televizion)
