The Vetëvendosje Movement violated parliamentary procedure by not putting the candidate for speaker of the Kosovo Assembly to a vote on Monday.
This is according to Eugen Cakolli, a researcher at the Democratic Institute of Kosovo. He tells KosovaPress that the same situation could be repeated on Wednesday.
"The Vetëvendosje Movement, in this case Mr. Konjufca as its representative, in this case violated the regulation and the obligation it has from the Constitutional Court to propose a candidate, although it was told that the name is the same. However, not putting it to the vote but requesting additional consultations in the procedural aspect shows that the right and procedure as provided for by the regulation but also the judgment of the Constitutional Court of 2014 have not been exhausted.
There was a violation in not providing the name and not putting it to the vote, but the request for additional consultations has also been justified in this case by the institutions themselves in other previous cases. In such cases, even on Wednesday, the LVV may not propose a name at all and consequently the session may be postponed indefinitely since there is no procedural deadline. In our opinion, this is the most complicated legal situation", says Cakolli. (A2 Televizion)
