Election campaign nears end, political parties hold closing rallies

The election campaign in Kosovo is coming to an end. For about a month, political parties unveiled their governing programs to citizens, and this campaign was characterized by a race to fill the halls and squares.

The campaign for the parliamentary elections in Kosovo officially began on January 11, while today and tomorrow political parties are expected to hold their closing rallies.

The Vetvendosje Movement will hold its closing rally tonight at 7:00 PM, at "Skënderbeu" Square in Pristina, while the Democratic League of Kosovo will gather at the same place, but a day later. It will conclude the campaign tomorrow, with a rally in the capital, at "Skënderbeu" Square, at 6:00 PM.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo will also conclude its campaign tomorrow, which has chosen to hold a rally at "Zahir Pajaziti" Square, at 4:00 PM.

This year's election campaign was marked by harsh language, and the Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel has issued thousands of euros in fines to political parties. The ruling party currently has the highest number of fines from the Complaints and Appeals Panel.

Despite the use of harsh language by political parties during election rallies, no incidents were recorded.

For these elections, 28 political entities with 1,280 candidates have been certified. Of these, 20 political parties, five coalitions, two citizen lists and one independent candidate. Around two million voters have the right to vote, of which around 105 thousand citizens who vote outside Kosovo.

Unlike past elections, when the electoral silence began the day before the voting, with this year's legal changes, it will now begin one minute before the opening of the polling stations - at 07:00 and will last until their closing, at 19:00 on February 9.

These will be the first regular elections that Kosovo has held since declaring independence in 2008. (A2 Televizion)
