Kosovo's former chief diplomat shows how the impasse in the Assembly can be

Former Kosovo diplomat Edita Tahiri has come up with a proposal for a way out of the political impasse created after the failure to constitute the Assembly for the fourth time.

Opposition parties insist that they are the ones who should form the new government and not the Vetëvendosje Movement, as the winning party of the February 9 elections, as the latter does not have enough votes.

Albulena Haxhiu, the LVV's nominee for speaker of the ninth legislature, failed to be elected to this position twice.

The Vice President of LVV, Glauk Konjufca, did not put this party's proposal to the vote for the Prime Minister of the Assembly today, knowing that they do not have the necessary 61 votes, KosovaPress reports.

Edita Tahiri says that the fourth failure to constitute the Assembly requires political agreement for the legislative bodies and the coalition Government in one package.

"It is up to the PDK to promise Prime Minister Kurti that he will become president after Vjosa's term ends. The latter is sorry, but she has had enough of a term as a president who is so closed-minded," she wrote in a Facebook post.

The continuation of the fifth session for the constitution of the ninth legislature will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at 10:00.
