Trump mentions Kosovo for the first time since taking office as President. However, the American leader referred to it only as one of the countries that has received funds from USAID, which his administration is now evaluating as unjustified expenses or a waste of the budget, writes A2.
At the conference held in Florida, Trump emphasized that two million dollars from USAID in Kosovo have been dedicated to developing "sustainable recycling models" aimed at "increasing socio-economic cohesion" in the country.
"$2 million for the development of sustainable recycling models to increase socio-economic cohesion among marginalized communities in Kosovo, such as Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians," said Donald Trump.
During his speech, Trump also mentioned Serbia, which has received $14 million to improve public procurement. Donald Trump's long list included a number of countries that have benefited from money from the United States of America. Upon taking office, President Trump ordered a 90-day pause in foreign development assistance, calling for verification of its effectiveness and consistency with foreign policy.
"All heads of departments and agencies responsible for U.S. foreign development assistance programs must immediately halt commitments and disbursements of development assistance funds," Trump's decision states.
A USAID spokesperson told international media a few days ago that all programs and grants without exemptions had been suspended.
