Prime Minister Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, is the most voted candidate for MP in the February 9 elections, according to results made public by the CEC.
Kurti secured 259,532 votes, which are fewer than those received by President Vjosa Osmani in the 2021 elections. With over 300,000 votes, Osmani remains the most voted person in Kosovo, writes A2.
Meanwhile, as for the leaders of the main parties and candidates for prime minister, Bedri Hamza, the candidate for prime minister from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, is in second place after Kurti, with 150,294 votes. He is followed by the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, with around 109,000 votes, the leader of the PDK, Memli Krasniqi, with 85,293 votes, the leader of the AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, with over 37,000 votes, and the leader of the Serbian List, Zllatan Ellek, with 9,354 votes.
The published result does not include conditional votes, votes from people with special needs, and over 80,000 votes from the diaspora.
The Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) – the ruling party – came first in these elections, with 40.80 percent of the vote. Other parties won smaller percentages of the vote. Under the new election law, the votes of candidates for MPs are counted separately in the Municipal Counting Centers.
This process has started late, while election monitoring organizations have criticized the CEC itself for not being sufficiently prepared for the process. (A2 Televizion)
