The European Union must clarify all the contours for Kosovo, so that this country does not remain a gray area on the map of Europe. This is one of the conclusions of the debate in the EP's Foreign Policy Committee.

The report prepared by Riho Terras, the rapporteur for Kosovo in the EP, also spoke about the shortcomings of Kosovo's politics, writes A2. During the debate in the EP, it was requested that Kosovo constitute the Assembly as soon as possible, after the parliamentary elections of February 9, and form the Government. Rapporteur Terras said that he expects the EU to take a more active role in the Western Balkans and that the new European Commission and its High Representative, Kaja Kallas, will be at the forefront of this commitment.

"The EU should lift the measures against Kosovo, which were taken in 2023, due to the tense situation in the north of the country inhabited by a Serb majority - because they are not correct. Even the five EU countries that have not recognized Kosovo should do so, in order to accelerate the process of Kosovo's integration into the EU," Terras said.

Nathalie Loiseao, speaking on behalf of the Liberal Group, supported the text of the draft report. She called for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia to be revived and for the parties to implement the obligations they have undertaken.

The report expresses concern about the unsatisfactory situation in Kosovo regarding corruption and calls for, in addition to legal reforms, tangible results in investigations and convictions. The document also expresses support for the dialogue process for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and welcomes the appointment of Peter Sorensen as the EU Special Envoy for this dialogue.
