The Vetëvendosje Movement appears to lack the votes to elect the Speaker of the Parliament and the new government.
Days ago, the deputies of the party that won the February 9 elections expressed their conviction that this entity has the numbers to form the government. However, even though they declared that they will not be an obstacle to the formation of institutions, the government seems not to have secured the full support of the non-Serb minorities, while it is said that it has managed to convince the Social Democratic Initiative, writes A2.
The lack of votes was evidenced at the moment of voting on the report of the temporary committee for the verification of the quorum and mandates of elected deputies, which has not been passed in the Assembly.
There were 52 MPs who voted in favor, 46 against and 11 MPs who abstained, which caused the constitutive session to be interrupted to continue another day. What is known is that the 52 votes in favor came from the Vetëvendosje Movement, 3 MPs from Nisma and 2 from minorities.
This suggests that Nisma will support the Kurti government, while the votes of non-Serb minority MPs remain in doubt. (A2 Televizion)
