The constitution of the new Assembly in Kosovo fails

The session to constitute the new Kosovo assembly fails. MPs from the opposition parties PDK, LDK and AAK have opposed the approval of the mandate verification commission's report, leading to a political stalemate, writes A2 CNN.

The leader of the PDK, Memli Krasniqi, explained that they made this decision because the government has not resigned. It is now up to the president to decide how to proceed. However, Albin Kurti submitted his resignation as prime minister, in order to be sworn in as an MP, as did his ministers. In the entire hall, he was the only one who had brought with him an Albanian national flag. The session also produced quite spicy moments, giving numerous signals regarding post-election coalitions or the formation of a new government. The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, and the leader of the Social Democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj, did not greet or talk to each other in the hall of the Kosovo Assembly.

The latter entered into a pre-election coalition and received 8 MPs in the February 9 elections. But there are reports of a possible agreement between the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, and the leader of Nisma, Fatmir Limaj, for the vote on the new government. There have also been reports of a pact between Kurti and Duda Balje, who represents the Bosniak minority, but the MP was seen as very close to the leader of the PDK, Memli Krasniqi.

Meanwhile, there were also some interesting moments during the break for the verification of mandates and the procedure of the session. Kurti is seen consulting with some members of his party and with MPs from non-Serb minorities. At the same time, the leaders of PDK and LDK also consult with their party members, but who have turned their backs on the leader of Vetëvendosje. There was no greeting between them. (A2 Televizion)
