The victory of 41.29% of the votes for Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje Movement is not enough to form a government. From this result, which translates into 47 mandates, Vetevendosje cannot govern alone, as it needs 61 mandates in the 120-seat parliament. A2 CNN journalist Rosalba Bejdo, who has been displaced in Kosovo these days, in a connection with "Dita Jonë", brought more details about the electoral process and the preliminary results.

"With almost 90% of the votes counted, Vetëvendosje leads with 41.29, securing 47 mandates, less than it needs to form the government; it needs 61 mandates. The Democratic Party of Kosovo with 21.83 percent of the votes, PDK has increased. The Democratic League with 17.75 percent, a slightly higher result than before. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is fourth with 7.68 percent. While the Serbian List has won 3.96 percent, securing all 10 mandates reserved for the Serbian community."

According to journalist Bejdo, the Vetëvendosje Movement aims to also receive the votes of the diaspora, otherwise it remains unclear how the government will be formed.

"The process towards completion will begin with the counting of diaspora votes, where voting took place from January 8 to February 8, these are the conditional votes that will be counted today. Kurti has pinned his hopes on diaspora votes. It is a considerable level of votes, around 100 thousand have been registered, of which 70% have exercised their right to vote. But it will have to be seen whether these votes will go for self-determination, as Kurti hopes, who aimed for 500 thousand votes. If the diaspora votes do not meet the result, it remains unclear how the government will be formed."

The turnout in the Kosovo elections was not as hoped by political parties. Only 40.59% of citizens exercised their right to vote. Despite the high level of interest, it was not reflected in the ballot boxes.

Asked whether Richard Grenell's statements influenced the outcome of the votes in Kosovo, the A2 CNN journalist says that "he is not a popular figure in Kosovo and Grenell's statements in Kosovo that consider him corrupt and biased in favor of Serbia do not matter much."

Meanwhile, regarding the development of the electoral process, Kosovo continues to give us a lesson in democracy. The process was calm and orderly with the exception of some minor incidents in the north, where 6 people were arrested, as well as an unusual problem on the CEC website.

"As expected, the electoral process went normally with some minor problems. Kosovo woke up calm as it was yesterday throughout the day. The electoral process is conducted in an orderly manner, Kosovo always gives us a lesson in democracy. Some problems in the north where we had 6 arrested in an attempt to intimidate voters to vote for the Serbian List, or a suspension of voting in Zubin Potok because the ballots ran out because there was increased interest in the north. The only problem during the vote counting was the expected faster publication of the results. An unusual problem occurred on the CEC website which was blocked for several hours. There was speculation that there may have been cyber attacks, but this has not been confirmed. Osmani last evening requested that the integrity of the elections be preserved. The website resumed functioning in the early hours of the day."   (A2 Televizion)
