Lista Serbe, the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo, has expressed dissatisfaction with the composition of the electoral commissions for the counting of votes for the February 9 parliamentary elections in polling stations and vote counting centers.
She has accused the Central Election Commission (CEC) of having harmed her, since in many municipalities, Lista Serbe does not have its own members to "check the legality, legitimacy and democratic character of the elections".
The official of this party, Igor Simic, said in a press conference that the party of Nenad Rashiqi, the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival, is "favored" and that, in some cases, there are more members in the election commissions, even though according to him, in the 2021 elections, this party received significantly fewer votes.
As an example for his claims, Simic took the municipality of Istog, where in the 2021 elections Lista Serbe received 259 votes, but there is no chairman or member in the election commission, in the municipal vote counting center or in the places for voting with condition.
Simic emphasized that the Serbian List, although parliamentary, has fewer members in the election commissions, even in municipalities with a Serbian majority.
"In the municipality of North Mitrovica, Lista Serbe as a parliamentary party has 18 representatives in polling stations, including only three leaders from a total of 24 polling stations and 15 members. As a result, you can calculate for yourself - in six places we do not have our representatives, which means that in six classes with potentially 6,000 voters, we do not have control over the electoral process, since we do not have members who can supervise the process", said Friends.
He also emphasized the efforts of the Vetëvendosje Movement in power to prevent the Serbian List from participating in the elections, stating that this party is "the shield for the protection of the interests of Serbs and Serbia in Kosovo".
Radio Free Europe addressed the Central Election Commission regarding the accusations of the Serbian List for "violation of election rules", but until the publication of the news, it has not received a response.
Meanwhile, the Vetëvendosje Movement tried to stop the participation of the Serbian List in the February 9 elections by demanding its non-certification, but the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Submissions in two cases made decisions in favor of the Serbian List.
The representatives of the ruling party have justified the opposition to the certification of the Serbian List by saying that this party does not recognize the state of Kosovo and continues to call it the autonomous province of Serbia, "Kosovo and Metohija".
Among the reasons for opposition to the participation of the Serbian List in the elections by Vetëvendosja is the fact that the Serbian party has not distanced itself from its former vice-president Millan Radoicic, who has taken responsibility for the armed attack in Banjska, where a Kosovar policeman was killed.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Serbian List, Zlatan Ellek, declared that the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, is trying to prevent this party's participation in the elections, as he considers it the "biggest opponent".
The Serbian List was founded in 2013 with the support of official Belgrade and since then has had support to participate in Kosovo institutions.
So far, in all the election processes in which it has participated, this party has won over 90 percent of the votes of the Serbian community, but the EU Monitoring Mission, in its 2021 report, has concluded that the Serbian List has "monopolized political life among Kosovo Serbs" and there have been cases of intimidation and pressure on voters by candidates and activists of this party./ REL (A2 Televizion)
