Chaotic scenes, violence and smoke engulfed Serbia's parliament on Tuesday as the opposition protested against the government and in support of the student movement. Three lawmakers were injured, including a pregnant woman, and another is said to have suffered a stroke during the chaos. The situation flared after the ruling coalition led by Vučić's progressive party approved the agenda.
Some opposition politicians rushed from their seats towards the parliament speaker and clashed with security guards. Others threw smoke grenades and tear gas, with footage showing black and pink smoke billowing inside parliament.
Speaker of Parliament, Ana Brnabic, said that MP Jasmina Obradovic, who was attacked with a stun grenade, suffered a stroke and is fighting for her life. MP Jasmina Karanac was also injured, as was Sonja Ilic, who is eight months pregnant.
Brnabic, addressed harsh accusations against the opposition, saying that it had used Kurti's terrorist methods. Authorities announced that they have launched investigations into who brought and used pyrotechnic devices in the assembly hall. Protests also took place outside the assembly, with citizens throwing eggs at the building. (A2 Televizion)
