The Kosovo Assembly failed to convene for the thirteenth time when it convened 3 months after the parliamentary elections. PDK, LDK, Serbian List and AAK rejected the idea of the Vetëvendosje Movement to elect the head of the Assembly through a secret ballot, causing the session to be interrupted and continued after 48 hours.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo announced that on Monday they will send the method of changing the voting to the Constitutional Court for interpretation.

“Due to the change in the voting form between the elections, from open voting to secret voting, we have collected signatures, we will address the Constitutional Court for this legal and constitutional violation and on Monday we will submit it to the Constitutional Court,” said Time Kadriaj from AAK.

AAK said that when they meet in session on Sunday, they will also try to obtain the signatures of PDK and LDK.

These two parties said they will first analyze the matter and decide whether to join the initiative.

"Regarding sending certain cases to the Constitutional Court, PDK alone sent 11 during the mandate of the former Kurti Government and we won all 11, we have the necessary expertise to assess whether something should be sent. We will review it without prejudice and I will get the opinion of PDK experts and I will also communicate with AAK colleagues," said PDK leader Memli Krasniqi.

"For initiatives to send cases to the Constitutional Court that provide a solution to the political impasse that has been created, of course we are analyzing the case and are in favor of unblocking the situation," stated Hykmete Bajrami from LDK.

The Vetëvendosje Movement claims that there is no violation of the voting method and has asked all those who think otherwise to send the case to the Constitutional Court as soon as possible.

"He who thinks that there is a violation of the Constitution should not keep the public in suspense but should finally submit it to the Constitutional Court because only in this way will it be possible to clarify whether there is or is not a violation, we think that this is just propaganda to justify the blockade", said Donika Gërvalla on behalf of VV.

AAK did not clarify whether the request to the Constitutional Court will also include an interpretation to limit the right to propose the Speaker of the Assembly only by the largest parliamentary group. (A2 Televizion)
