The MPs elected in the February 9 elections will gather for the thirteenth time in a row in the Assembly of Kosovo, to continue the constitutive session of the new parliamentary composition.
The session is expected to begin at 10:00 a.m. So far, only two reports of the temporary Commission for the verification of mandates and the swearing-in of the deputies have been completed, while the election of Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker of Parliament for the 12th consecutive time has failed.
The process has stalled at the third point, the election of the Speaker of the Assembly, which is key to further steps towards the formation of new institutions.
The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has called for the creation of a transitional and unifying government, inviting Albanian parliamentary parties to a joint table. However, this idea has not been supported by the current prime minister and leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti.
Political clashes and the lack of an agreement between the parties have prevented the Assembly from being constituted since April 15. According to the regulation, the session can be interrupted and continued within 48 hours, without limitation on the number of times, until the full constitution of the Assembly is completed.
The election of the speaker and deputy speakers would pave the way for the prime minister's proposal for the formation of the new Government, which belongs to Vetëvendosje as the winner of the elections. (A2 Televizion)
