Prime Minister Albin Kurti called what the opposition is doing by blocking Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker of the Parliament an archaic mindset.
"This situation reflects the confrontation with hierarchical, patriarchal and backward structures. The fight against the GVV leader is not only a political or party clash, but also a gender clash. The woman who was voted for the most by the people of Kosovo in the February 9 elections is Albulena Haxhiu. Instead of respecting the people, they attack Albulena," Kurti said.
On the other hand, the candidate for mayor - who is also the most voted in the election - also called the situation worrying, expressing hope for a solution from the Constitutional Court.
"This situation is of course worrying. It is extremely important that we are at the service of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. We are also awaiting the decision of the Constitutional Court," she said. (A2 Televizion)
