The deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo tried unsuccessfully 54 times to close the constitutive session.
Despite sessions every 48 hours and sometimes more often, their effective work is considered low as they closed quickly, writes A2 CNN.
However, the deputies continued to be paid regularly with their basic monthly salary. The Kosovo Assembly has confirmed to A2 CNN that from the date of the swearing-in of the deputies, which is April 19, until June 30, 530 thousand 540 euros have been spent on the salaries of the deputies. Total amount of salaries for the month of April: €95,633.93. Total amount of salaries for the month of May: €234,998.98. Total amount of salaries for the month of June: €199,907.67.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti and 16 other ministers who were elected MPs were not paid by the Kosovo Assembly, as they received their salaries as part of the executive branch. MPs are also entitled to hire political support staff, otherwise known as senior personal officials or assistants, whose salary is 900 euros. For the months of May and June, 136 thousand 802 euros were spent from the state budget for the salaries of these officials. Total amount of salaries for the month of May: 59 860.27 €. Total amount of salaries for the month of June: 76942.71 €. During the months of May and June, MPs also spent over 4 thousand euros on phone recharges. Total amount of phone recharges for MPs for the month of May: 1849.64 euros. Total amount of phone recharges for MPs for the month of June: 2159 euros.
The deputies were only deprived of their per diems and travel expenses, writes A2 CNN.
"Deputies and political support staff do not receive a salary for participating in the session and their travel expenses have not been compensated," the Kosovo Assembly announced.
The Assembly has not disclosed the expenses for July, since the month has not yet ended. However, by government decision, all public officials, including MPs, will receive a 55 euro increase in their salaries for July. Thus, from the 1,859 euro salary for MPs until June, from this month they will be paid 1,914 euros per month. (A2 Televizion)
