"You are cowards" - Kosovo fails to constitute the Assembly

The deputies failed to constitute the assembly even in the last session before the deadline set by the Constitutional Court came into effect.

This was the second attempt in a day, where the secret ballot committee was again put to the vote, which did not receive the support of the opposition parties so far. The deputies of these political parties were denied the microphone, as they continued their speech, clashing with the deputies of the Vetëvendosje Movement.

103 deputies were present in the hall, writes A2 CNN.

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Vlora Çitaku asked the chairman of the constituent session, Avni Dehari, to return to the agenda.

Çitaku: "Imagine if doctors, nurses, teachers, police officers didn't show up for work..."

Dehari: "Let the director cut off the microphone, don't abuse the rules, there is no debate in the constitutive session. Establish the session, then call as many as you want."

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP, Hykmete Bajrami, was also denied access to her microphone, even though she continued her speech, clashing with the LVV MPs.

"Chairman, you can immediately turn off the microphone. Seriously, 44 times the deputies have said no to a secret ballot. You are cowards. 44 times we have told you no. 102 days Kosovo has had no assembly, no government. Do you know who is working? Single-source tenders...", she said.

The chairman of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, said that he is adjourning the session without constituting the Assembly, writes A2 CNN.

"56 deputies voted for, none against, no abstentions. Honorable deputies, honorable deputies, honorable attendees, despite all my efforts to constitute the Assembly, due to the lack of will of the deputies, the Assembly was not constituted within the deadline set by the Constitutional Court. Since we already have a decision from the Constitutional Court, imposing a temporary measure that enters into force on July 27 until August 8, as the decision states, any action or decision by the deputies is prohibited, therefore, until another decision or the final decision of the Constitutional Court, I am adjourning the session," said Dehari.

The Constitutional Court has imposed a temporary measure from July 27 to August 8, prohibiting MPs from taking any action or decision related to the constitution of the Assembly.
