The candidate for mayor must have been a resident of the municipality in which he/she seeks to run for at least 3 years.
This is one of the additional conditions required for candidates for mayor in Kosovo, in addition to those conditions arising from Article 30 of the Law on General Elections.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi explained that the requirement to be a resident of the municipality for at least 3 years is a requirement from the Law on Local Elections.
"In addition to the conditions required to be met under Article 30 of the Law on General Elections, Article 9, paragraph 2 of the Law on Local Elections requires that the candidate for Mayor have been a resident of the municipality in which he/she is running for election as Mayor for at least 3 years ," said Elezi.
A strong race is expected, as always, to take place in Pristina, where four candidates have already been made official: Hajrulla Ceku from LVV, current leader Përparim Rama of LDK, Bekë Berisha from AAK, and Besa Shahini from PSD.
Meanwhile, Uran Ismaili has been rumored as the PDK candidate, but his name has not yet been made official. (A2 Televizion)
