The Vetëvendosje Movement has continued its battle to repeat the postal voting process in the Supreme Court. The party has filed an appeal against the decision of the Electoral Panel that rejected the same request a day earlier. Vetëvendosje is also demanding that around 19,000 votes be taken away from the Democratic League of Kosovo, which it claims manipulated the process.
The Supreme Court confirmed that in addition to the Vetëvendosje Movement, there were two other complaints against the ECAP decisions, from the PDK candidate for MP, Petrit Hajdari, and from the coalition of minority parties PDAK-LPK.
This appeals period is also the last act before the certification of the results of the February 9 elections.
"The Supreme Court has a legal deadline of three days to review the cases and make the relevant decisions. With the completion of this phase, only the final step remains, the certification of the official results by the Central Election Commission," said Melosh Kolshi from IKL.
The election process is expected to be completed next week.
"Certification of official results could occur within a few days after the Supreme Court's decisions, and thus the full closure of the electoral process can be expected in the best possible version during the next week," Kolshi added.
Certification of results officially paves the way for the formation of new institutions and the expiration of legal deadlines.
"From the moment of certification of the results, we enter the phase of establishing the Assembly, so the Assembly session must be convened, it must be called within 30 days from the day of the announcement and certification of the election results," said Vullnet Bugaqku from KDI.
The Assembly is considered constituted with the election of its president and presidency. The terms of office for the new Government will then begin, the failure to vote for which could lead the country to extraordinary elections.
"We can have the establishment of the Assembly but we may have obstacles in the establishment of the Government and when the Assembly of Kosovo is established, the deadlines are then clear and if it fails the first and second time [vj the Government vote] then we will go to extraordinary elections with a decision of the president [vj Vjosa Osmani] or the 60-day deadline for the establishment of the Government will expire and if it is not met, the Government is not appointed within 60 days, we go to elections because that is what the constitution itself determines," Bugaqku added.
The establishment of the new government is expected to be challenging for political parties, as the Vetëvendosje Movement has declared that it will not cooperate with any major opposition party, while the opposition bloc wants to form the government and push Kurti into opposition. (A2 Televizion)
