The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held a consultation roundtable with political parties regarding the setting of the date for local elections.
An official decision will be made in the coming days, in accordance with the constitution and legislation in force, the presidency itself announced, after Ms. Osmani listened to the proposals of representatives of political entities. Almost all parties are demanding that local elections be held as soon as possible. The deputy leader of Vetëvendosje, Albulena Haxhiu, mentioned October 5 as the preferred date, writes A2 CNN.
For the Democratic Party of Kosovo, mid-October is appropriate. Asked by A2 CNN whether extraordinary parliamentary elections were also discussed at this roundtable, Ms. Haxhiu gave this answer: “It was an idea to announce both local and extraordinary elections.”
Meanwhile, for the PDK leader, the constitutional deadlines do not allow for holding double elections in October.
The last local elections in Kosovo were held in October 2021. Most municipalities were won by LDK, followed by Vetëvendosje, PDK, and then AAK. (A2 Televizion)
