February elections, the deadline for application for certification of political

The Central Election Commission decided to postpone the deadline for the application of political entities for certification and for the submission of the list of candidates for deputies for participation in the February 2025 elections until midnight.

The previous deadline was until 16:00 on Wednesday, but the difficulties with the online application forced the CEC to bring a new decision.

"Based on the notifications we received, there were difficulties in understanding the uploading of documents, at least that's how we have some notifications. The deadline in terms of dates remains the same, it started on September 1 and ends on December 11, only a few more hours have been given", said the spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi.

Among the entities that have applied to participate in the elections is Lista Serbe, the largest Serbian entity in Kosovo supported by official Belgrade but accused of being behind the unrest in the north.

They return to participate in the election race after they had boycotted the extraordinary municipal elections in the north and then the referendum for the removal of the Albanian mayors.

Among the Serbian political entities that have submitted the lists are five others such as Serbian Democracy, Serbian National Movement, Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival, Party of Kosovo Serbs and Civic Initiative People's Justice.

All candidates of all political subjects who are expected to compete will be subject to certification after the CEC ensures that their past is in accordance with the law.

"The Central Election Commission, according to its legal responsibilities, will cooperate with various institutions that are responsible for verifying the candidates, that is, the Law on General Elections, specifically Article 30, foresees cases when a person cannot be a candidate ", stated Valmir Elezi, spokesperson of the CEC.

The Central Election Commission will have time to certify subjects and candidates until December 25. (A2 Televizion)
