The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has said that the persons responsible for the terrorist attack in the north must be brought to justice.
"In September, the violent incidents in northern Kosovo reminded us of the danger of a larger conflict that could erupt in the Western Balkans. During an attack in May, 93 NATO soldiers were seriously injured, some of them suffering lifelong injuries. Such attacks are unacceptable and we demand that those responsible be held accountable," Stoltenberg declared.
After meeting with President Vjosa Osmani, he again underlined the need for the Kosovo Security Force to receive NATO's confirmation before intervening in the north.
"NATO supports the EU-mediated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and it is important that both sides engage honestly in this process. The recent progress on the creation of the Association of Serb-majority municipalities is an important step towards the normalization of relations and long-term stability in the region," added Stoltenberg.
He said that NATO prioritizes security in the Balkan region.
In the end, he also spoke about Kosovo's membership in the partnership for peace.
"Membership in the partnership for peace program requires unanimous votes from all member states and the decision of all NATO allies is needed, and I don't know when such a decision can be made," he said. (A2 Televizion)
