24 security measures for the Agricultural University, Rama: I see no reason for this attack. What will the partners think?

A day after the police executed 24 security measures against 24 employees of the Agricultural University in Kamëz for tender abuse, Prime Minister Edi Rama gathered the parliamentary group for a hearing with the rector of this university, Fatabardh Sallaku. In his speech, the head of government noted that the rector is a democrat and is not a person under investigation. For this reason, according to him, he is being given space for a hearing.

"It is necessary to underline a fact that when we spoke, I was assured that you are not a person under investigation. We cannot give space and conduct hearings with persons under investigation. Secondly, it is good for everyone to know that before you ran for rector, you sent a letter to SPAK, where you asked if your candidacy would have any obstacles due to your status and the answer was for you to continue running and everyone should understand that the very big concern in this case is not related to the facts or personal guilt or innocence, but to the rush to declare 24 people under security for a university that is at a historical turning point and whose future depends on a strategic partnership with one of the oldest universities in the world."

Although he sees no reason for this attack on higher education, what worries Rama about these 24 security measures is the opinion of the Austrian partners of the Agricultural University. But according to him, this will not hinder the work of the university.

"The first thing that came to mind is what the Austrian partners will think when they hear it. 24 security measures, a staggering number for an issue that has been going on for 2-3 years and that has no reason to create this blow for an institution of higher education. Especially since it is about scientific research funds, where if there have been abuses, the abusers will be held accountable to the end, but 24 security measures, I believe, are sufficient in terms of what the rector said and the concern is to send a message to parents, students and partners that while justice will do its job, there is no reason to block the work.
