The rupture of the Sasaj hydroelectric dam in Bunec was the result of a lack of controls by the responsible institutions. This is the conclusion reached by the KLSH's verification regarding this event.
According to the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution (KLSH), this HPP, since its construction and start of operation, has not had any control from the institutions tasked with monitoring them.
If these institutions had conducted the appropriate inspections and identified the problems that led to the dam damage, what happened at Heci i Sasaj could have been avoided.
To avoid a recurrence of such an event, the SAI will audit other HPPs throughout Albania. For this reason, it also invites citizens who may have information on issues of this nature to report it to the Supreme State Audit Office, in order to prevent such events. (A2 Televizion)
