At the Kombinat-Ndroq-Plepa road rehabilitation site, lot 1, approximately 25% of the physical works have been completed. This lot has a length of 4.8 kilometers, while the project envisages returning this axis to category C parameters.
The works are focused on the exit of the Beshir Bridge, where the excavation process in the road body has been completed, and it has become possible to move the electrical and water supply lines, as well as the sewage system.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Gentian Gjyli, closely followed the progress of the works.
"This road segment is designed according to the standards in force. It has been converted into a secondary interurban segment of category C1 with this 3.75-meter crossing lane. The two emergency shoulders which are divided in the urban area into 2.5 meters that serve as emergency lanes and in the interurban area with 1.5 meters width. The project starts at the exit of the Combine and the first 1.8 kilometers are treated as an urban area with sidewalks and lighting," said Gjyli.
Deputy Prime Minister Balluku described the project for the rehabilitation of this axis as one of the most important, which will not only facilitate movement, while also increasing road safety, but will also have a direct impact on the development of the entire area.
"We have started the deep reconstruction of this road, but not just reconstruction, because we will also eliminate some of the black spots that we had, those that we call so because of road safety and that affect visibility, since they are curves. On the other hand, in this segment we will also have a series of innovations, having an expansion of the crown of the road which goes up to 12.5 meters, an increase in speed and on the other hand we will also have the construction of a bridge which is part of the World Bank project called the bridges project", said Balluku.
The area that extends along this axis offers numerous opportunities for the development of agrotourism and with the rehabilitation of this axis, this sector is expected to experience even greater development.
"With the systematization and deep reconstruction of this road, we are certain that the entire area of Peza, Ndroq and up to Plepa will receive another tourist development, that of agrotourism, considering that the entire relief of the area allows this. The agricultural hubs located here for years will receive greater development. The area of Ndroq to Plepa is very easily accessible from Tirana, as it is from Durrës, this makes the project one of the most important projects and the most important construction sites that we have at these moments", Balluku underlined.
