Second day of tributes, dozens of believers and personalities honor Archbishop

Tributes in honor of the passing of Archbishop Anastasios Janullatos continued for the second day in a row at the Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.

Dozens of believers and personalities from different walks of life participated to bid him farewell before the funeral ceremony to be held on Thursday.

"We came from Saranda to say goodbye to the archbishop," a citizen told A2 CNN.

"We will honor him because he has helped us a lot," said another citizen, writes A2 CNN.

Also present to pay homage to the head of the Orthodox Church was the head of the Bektashi Community, Baba Mondi. He praised the figure of Janullatos, who he said he "has also personally collaborated with."

"Fortlturia is a personality of the Albanian Orthodox Church, who has worked selflessly to raise this Church from the grave. He was a man who has collaborated with all religious communities and especially with me personally and I feel sorry for every person who leaves this world, but he is leaving with a work that he has left behind for the Albanian Orthodox Church, but also for Albanians. Condolences to the Orthodox Church, may God rest him in his paradise. May there be light and may God bless us all, amen!", said Baba Mondi.

The funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 at the Cathedral with the participation of a number of national and international personalities. The mass that will be held in honor will last about 40 minutes, while Prime Minister Edi Rama and Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis are expected to deliver speeches.

The Holy Synod's talks on appointing a new archbishop will begin 40 days after the funeral. (A2 Televizion)
