Nearly 100 days before the May 11 elections, the opposition is protesting in Tirana, outside Prime Minister Edi Rama's office, demanding a caretaker government.

At the moment when the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, took the podium, some of the protesters threw tear gas canisters and smoke bombs at the police cordon set up in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

Three officers were injured as a result of the explosion of the capsules. A2 CNN learns that one police officer suffered injuries to her eye, one officer to her hand, and another to her face.

In footage provided by A2 CNN, an officer from the "Eagle" unit and another from the security forces are seen being helped by their colleagues to retreat to the area behind the prime minister's office.

They retreat towards the Pyramid, where FNSH officers are located, who are on standby in case there are physical clashes and tension in the rally. (A2 Televizion)
