Saint Michael's Church, the bones come to the surface, the residents ask for intervention

The rains of the last few days have made the situation even more alarming in the cemetery of the church of Saint Michael in Patos. The bones of the sleepers have come to the surface, a problem that has been evident for years, but which has not found a solution.

For a long time, the cemeteries located in the Church of St. Mihill in the Dukas neighborhood of Patos have been damaged due to erosion, which has caused the corpses and bones of the dead to come to the surface. This is a very serious picture, especially for the residents who have their houses nearby and who demand the intervention of the institutions as soon as possible. They say that this problem has been going on for a long time and has not yet received a solution.

The extension in time of the problem is also related to the fact of the property being returned to the religious institutions, since the church of Saint Michael after the prohibition of the faith in 1967 passed to the property-state and since then it was used for various purposes. It has served as a cultural center, but also as a home for the homeless. Over the years, the building was damaged and left to the mercy of fate. For their part, representatives of the Orthodox church in the city of Fier have stated that if the object had been returned as the property of the church together with the part of the cemetery, they would have intervened for repairs. 

The rains of the last few days have caused bone remains and bones from the cemetery near the church to come to the surface. For the problem in question, we have approached the Municipality of Patos.
