From the summit in Abu Dhabi where the trilateral agreement between the host country, Albania and Italy for the production of green energy will be signed, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her enthusiasm for this project that will pave the way for the new underwater interconnection of the Adriatic.

"This initiative is a concrete step towards a global interconnection from Asia to the Gulf, from North Africa to Europe, capable of supplying energy in a two-way manner," said Meloni.

Meloni added that thanks to this project, part of the green energy that will be produced in Albania will be exported to Italy through underwater cables.

“I am extremely happy, as Edi announced earlier, to sign the strategic partnership framework to launch an equally ambitious project between the two shores of the Adriatic. His Highness the President of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and Prime Minister Edi Rama, two good friends of mine and good friends of Italy, will participate in the signing of an extremely important commitment to implement a new energy interconnection to produce green energy in Albania and to export part of this energy to Italy through an underwater cable across the Adriatic Sea. We strongly believe in this project that involves our three governments and our private operators and energy market regulators.”

She also emphasized Italy's strong connection with the Western Balkans and referred to her friendship with Prime Minister Edi Rama for this.

“Italy is traditionally linked to the Western Balkan countries, as my friendship with Prime Minister Edi Rama shows. And over time, this has resulted in energy infrastructure projects. I am referring here to the 430 km energy interconnection along the Adriatic that connects Italy with Montenegro and the Balkan region, which is an energy infrastructure that we aim to strengthen and make even more efficient and competitive. And we aim to move in this direction towards We know that we live in a particularly complex era, marked by truly strong transformations. We now have a choice to make, either we can suffer from these transformations by standing still or we can interpret them as opportunities. I firmly believe that we must choose the latter and pursue it with courage and vision without any fear.” (A2 Televizion)
