24 hours after being elected head of the Orthodox Church of Albania, Archbishop Joan received a phone call from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Through a post on the 'X' platform, the Head of the official Athens writes that the Church of Albania is a point of unity and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
"We will continue to work towards this goal, honoring the memory and work of Blessed Anastas. I contacted His Beatitude Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania and congratulated him on his election."
"Our shared belief is that the Church of Albania is a point of unity and mutual understanding between the two peoples. We will continue to work towards this goal, honoring the memory and work of Blessed Anastasios," Mitsotakis wrote.
The election of Archbishop Joan was made yesterday by the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church, after Sunday's Divine Liturgy, which for Orthodox believers coincides with the second Sunday of Lent. (A2 Televizion)
