Alongside President Bajram Begaj from Tirana, his Slovak counterpart Peter Pellegrini declared to the media that Bratislava will stick to its decision not to recognize Kosovo.
According to Pellegrini, Slovakia's stance not to recognize Kosovo as a state is a position that is based on the rules of Slovak diplomacy and has no connection to his country's friendship with Albania or the Albanian people.
"I will not avoid questions about Kosovo, we have discussed these with President Begaj, I have represented Slovakia's position on this in general for countries that have not recognized Kosovo. This is based on a decision, it has nothing to do with the people of Albania, with the Albanian nation, for us the Albanian nation is a friendly nation, and this has nothing to do with our negative stance towards Kosovo. This is based on the rules of our diplomacy at the moment, but I informed the president about the golden dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, on security issues in the region, that the Albanian government also has a special representative regarding the dialogue that can continue as a dialogue in the future.
