The Vlora Port Authority has decided to suspend sea navigation for small vessels and fishing vessels for three consecutive days. Starting from the early hours of this Thursday morning, fishing vessels and sailing vessels will not be allowed to go out to sea, not only today, but also during Friday and Saturday. The reason for this measure is the strong coastal wind, which causes high waves both in the open sea and in the bay, making it impossible for these vessels to sail.
The coastal wind in the city of Vlora this Friday is expected to reach up to 15 meters per second in the bay and 25 meters per second in the open sea. As a result of this wind, in the open sea the waves reach up to 2.5 meters, while in the bay they reach a height of 1.5 meters, making it impossible for fishing vessels and small floating vessels to sail. The wind will blow in a South-Southeast direction, causing sea forces in the bay to reach 6 force and in the open sea to reach 8 force.
Meanwhile, the ferries on the Brindisi line, according to the Sea Port Authority, will continue their navigation normally, as this sea force does not pose a danger to them, given that they can withstand waves with a force greater than 8.
Fishing and navigation vessel administrators have been notified of the situation and, since Tuesday morning, have begun securing their vessels on the coast to avoid collisions, which could cause damage.
The hydrometeorological situation is expected to improve starting on March 16, after 08:00 in the morning, when fishing and floating vessels will be allowed to go out to sea again. (A2 Televizion)
