"Nur" will be the name of the project, which is expected to start in 2026 and will lead to the gasification of the city of Korça, a process that will be implemented by the Azerbaijani company 'SOCAR'. Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku presented this project during the round of electoral meetings that the Socialist Party is holding today in the southeastern region.
The head of government promised that within a few years Korça will be heated with gas, at a very low cost, and also underlined that the project will be extended to other cities in Albania.
"We must become a sovereign country from an energy point of view. This project will also be extended to other cities. It is truly a meaningful sign of a special friendship with NUR, as this company has so many projects and is sought after everywhere. Finding the time and opportunity to come to Korça with the company's manager, who gave us an exhaustive explanation and also others, is a meaningful gesture of friendship and strategic partnership with a very friendly country. On the other hand, I want to give a very important detail for me, this beautiful name "Nur" was specially chosen by the president of Azerbaijan, and it is he who takes special care of this project", said Rama.
The Prime Minister further revealed that President Ilham Aliyev did not ask for anything in return for the Korça gasification project, but proposed it as a gift to a friendly country like Albania.
"I witnessed him telling the minister about the project in Albania: We don't want profits, the important thing is not to lose and to win the citizens of that friendly country," Rama revealed.
