Over 300 flooded homes, businesses and dozens of hectares of land are the statistics of the next flood in the city and surroundings of Durrës. The local government blames the weather conditions. While residents repeatedly suffer damage to their homes.
The fact that already well-known areas in Durrës flood whenever there is intense rainfall is no longer new for both the residents who suffer the consequences of the floods and for the local government, which justifies the shortcomings in services and cleaning of drainage channels with the fact that the rainfall was of high intensity, A2 CNN reports.
And apparently that's what happened with Wednesday's heavy rains that continued for at least 5 hours. Over 300 homes flooded, mainly in the former Kënetës area and neighborhood 17, dozens of hectares of agricultural land under water and of course several streets with high water levels, writes A2 CNN.
Residents whose homes were flooded and of course damaged everything they owned, are not experiencing this situation for the first time, but this time they say the water level was higher.
On the other hand, Durrës municipality leaders say that the situation was created due to rainfall and that all service personnel are on the ground, reports A2 CNN.
Meanwhile, for former SP MP Igli Cara, the mayor of Durrës and the prime minister, a few hours before the flood, were asking for votes from these flooded residents.
As in previous cases, the local government promises an assessment of damages to families and businesses, while time has shown that very little has been done to avoid these floods.
