300 houses have been flooded in the municipality of Durres, 200 of which are in the former Këneta area. The data was made public by the deputy mayor of the municipality of Durres, Elio Jani, according to whom there are 10 groups on the ground to assess the damage.
"The situation today is calmer than last night. The Municipality of Durrës has the entire administration on the ground. There are 10 groups for the assessment and management of damages. There are 300 flooded houses, 200 only in zone 6, the former Kënetës region, another 100 throughout the Municipality of Durrës. With the work and interventions we are doing, the situation will be calmer."
Jani emphasized that the most problematic area is region 6 of the former Këneta. “We will start withdrawing water with trucks,” he said.
According to him, the rainfall the day before was unforeseen, while emphasizing that the municipality will do everything to compensate citizens, according to the law in force.
"Yesterday's rainfall was extraordinary. These levels of rainfall were not predicted. Unfortunately, it happened. The important thing is that there was no loss of life. For the damages that citizens have suffered, we will do everything possible according to the legislation in force. We are doing everything possible to normalize the situation."
