Albanian Alban Dervishi, Albanian-American Executive Officer of the USS Pearl Harbor, is scheduled to take command of this US warship in June 2025.
The news was announced by the US Embassy in Tirana, which has also published a video of Alban Dervishi, who in Albanian shows that he has sailed with American ships in every sea in the world and has also participated in difficult military operations.
The US Embassy wrote in its post that Dervishi was born in Tirana and comes from a military family. The announcement also states that Albani and his parents immigrated to the United States 25 years ago to pursue the American dream.
"I am Alban Dervishi, born and raised in Tirana. I am Petro Nini's son in high school and I was only 16 years old, I had finished my second year of high school and we went to New York. I feel very proud that this June I will take command of the USS Pearl Harbor and it is an honor. I can't wait to do my duty. My father and grandfather were military. I started as a private sailor. During my career I have been on 7 different military ships and I have sailed in every different sea in the world, including the most critical operations such as the war in Afghanistan, Iraq and other operations. There is a certain emphasis there and they always ask me where I come from and I say it with great pride that I have Albanian," said Alban Dervishi in the video published by the American Embassy in Tirana.
