"We are not afraid" - Altin Dumani: Impunity in Albania is shocking

The head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, Altin Dumani, has stated that with the Justice Reform, impunity is being shaken in Albania.

Dumani made the comments at the ceremony of the end of the vetting of prosecutors and judges, a process that will be transferred to the head of SPAK from December 31.

Dumani also said that with the Justice Reform, democracy has increased and the path has been paved for the country's integration into the EU, writes A2 CNN.

The head of SPAK also said that during his journey, SPAK has faced many challenges, which, according to him, neither overwhelmed nor scared the prosecutors.

"Dear ambassadors, members of the Independent Qualification Commission and honorable public commissioners. I must share with you some reflections on a process that shaped our justice system. It was decisive to have a stronger democracy and to make the path to the EU safer.

7 years is not a little, but the Reform in Justice was transformative to describe one of the most comprehensive processes, to bring Albanian citizens a fair and professional justice system. KPK and KPA have set with their example a cornerstone on which justice institutions would be built. SPAK is an independent institution and all 20 prosecutors have undergone the vetting process.

Impunity is being shaken today. The road confronts us every day with new challenges, which have neither scared us nor overwhelmed us. One of the priorities of SPAK from December 31 is the administration of the role of public commissioners. All unfinished issues of re-evaluation of magistrates will be passed to the leaders of SPAK. So far, 40 complaints are counted. It is anticipated that the head of SPAK will have a major role of representing these issues before the Special Appeals Panel", said Dumani, writes A2 CNN.
