The Dairy Processing Industry Association and the Dairy Farmers Association have reacted to news that aflatoxin has been found in certain quantities of milk.
Through a joint official statement, it is stated that there is no open case by the National Food Authority (AKU) against any of the companies mentioned in some media outlets, regarding aflatoxin issues.
The statement also reaffirms the commitment to meeting the highest standards of food safety, transparency towards consumers, and support for local production.
But what did the AKU declare this morning?
According to the AKU, there was information about a batch of milk that was distributed in Vlora, which resulted in the presence of Aflatoxin M1. Upon receiving the information, controls were launched in the city, where 10 samples were identified in the city's markets and supermarkets.
According to the AKU, during March, milk samples taken randomly in trade and production were analyzed. Based on the analyzes conducted at ISUV, some milk samples resulted in the presence of Aflatoxin M1. Present in milk, it is carcinogenic and genotoxic, while the risk is particularly high for children and regular consumers. The AKU emphasizes that the milk was immediately withdrawn from the market, but it is suspected that it was also consumed.
