About 120 licensed fishermen from Pogradec have been unemployed for several days following the order of the Ministry of Agriculture, according to which, in order to protect some species of fish in the lake, such as carp, bream, merganser and others, it is prohibited to cast nets up to a distance of 1500 meters from the shore.

In this way, fishermen are forced to not cast their nets at this distance even for Koran, one of the main fish for which Pogradec and the culinary delights of this tourist city are known.

This decision not only came as a surprise to fishermen, but they also see it as unfounded and penalizing for their economies.

"Only with hooks, with hooks you see there is no boat, because there is none. With hooks it is a joke, it is not about working and bringing money home."

"We don't have bread to eat, we go into the lake, catch fish, sell them to feed ourselves."

According to fishermen, the ban on fishing for koran will also affect Pogradec's tourist activity.

"Yes, he brought it, he brought the lack of the Koran. In Pogradec, a tourist city. The other one comes from Tirana, from the other side of the world or from abroad and there is no fish to eat. But he comes for the fish, why should he come, to look at us. He comes for that job, but where do you find it?"

Although the fishermen were received in the municipality of Pogradec, so far there has been no response from the Ministry of Agriculture to their claims. (A2 Televizion)
