Operations from Vlora airport are expected to start from March-April 2025. The news was given today during the inspection of this airport by Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Minister Belinda Balluku. According to Minister Balluku, in the first year of operation, there will be more passengers than expected.
"In the first year, 330,000 passengers are expected, but it is certain that in the first year we will have more than 1 million passengers, from March 2025 only at Vlora airport. The forecasts are optimistic" .
Balluku emphasized that this airport, which is already in an advanced stage, will be covered with solar panels to produce energy for the airport's needs.
"The airport will have innovation, it will be covered with solar panels, measures have been taken to prevent problems during landing and takeoff of planes with reflections. 5.2 megawatts of renewable energy will be produced, which will be for the needs of the airport. "
The runway of this airport will be 3.2 km long with a width of 60 meters and a terminal of 20,000 square meters, while they are expected to be completed in the summer of 2024. After that, from January 2024, the certification will start
