Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a visit to Zall-Herr together with the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, presented the achievements and future challenges in the field of defense, emphasizing the significant increase in salaries in the Armed Forces and the improvement of service conditions.
Rama declared that Albania now has the best-paid army in the region, noting that salaries have been increased to 1,550 euros, a fulfillment of one of the government's key promises. According to him, the objective is for salaries to reach the average level of developed NATO countries, a goal that is getting closer and closer thanks to continuous work.
"We have increased the number of recruitments fivefold and have made a complete transformation from the worst-paid army in the region, into a well-treated and motivated force. Our goal is to reach the NATO average. So we have the objective of the average salary of the army of advanced NATO countries, we are close to it and we are continuing to work to get there", said Rama.
Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, underlined the commitment of the Albanian Armed Forces to international missions, with over 500 troops deployed abroad. He emphasized that the defense sector now has no financial problems and that the priority remains the development of the domestic military industry.
"We have a daily commitment from the government and the prime minister to strengthen the army and national security," Vengu concluded.
The director of the National Agency for Civil Protection, Haki Çako, also spoke at this event, emphasizing the role of Civil Protection in rescue operations both domestically and abroad, such as in Greece and Turkey.
