Due to the deteriorating weather in the city and strong winds, during the early hours of the morning one of the pine trees in the soda forest area fell to the ground, writes A2 CNN. The pine tree ended up on the national axis that connects Vlora with Narta and Zvërnec.
The pine tree first fell on another tree, and then damaged a lamppost and a bench that was nearby. Due to the considerable length of the tree, it ended up on the sidewalk of the other road segment, blocking vehicle traffic for several hours.
It was one of the drivers who notified the fire department, and after their arrival, it was possible to cut down the tree trunk and then clear the road for traffic.
Fortunately, during the time when the pine trees fell, there was no vehicle traffic in this segment due to the time of day, and so far no injuries have been reported. However, if it had happened during the day, both drivers and passersby would have been at risk.
This is not the first time that trees have fallen in the soda forest, and the cases are repeated whenever there is strong wind and bad weather in the city. (A2 Televizion)
