The heavy rains that hit Durrës the night before have flooded several streets and neighborhoods in the coastal city. According to the Municipality, water has entered about 300 homes in total, of which 200 homes are in the Durrës i Ri area, 60 in the Shkozet and Plazhit areas, 4 homes in administrative unit 4, 1 home in unit 1, 20 homes in Sukth, 10 in Katund i Ri and 5 homes in Rrashbull.
In the 17th district, footage shot by the A2 CNN team shows a very problematic situation, with water entering homes and businesses in the area, causing extensive damage.
"This street always floods like this. No one has called us, no one has come," a resident of the area tells A2 CNN. "There was a meter of water here, we are still standing in the water. We went up to the second floor, in the hands of Allah... The whole house is flooded. There may be 10-15 times that we have drowned and the water is over a meter or so."
The Ministry of Defense announced that several families have been evacuated from flooded areas and taken to Kavalishenca, while during the night army forces worked to remove water from the Durrës prison.
Secondary roads in the area of New Durrës, Shkozet, the Court of Appeal, and partly the Beach Area have significant problems, while about 40 ha of land is under water.
Meanwhile, work continues by forces on the ground to remove water from areas affected by intense rainfall in part of the Durrës municipality. Forces from the Ministry of Water Resources, the Port Authority, the Drainage Board, and the municipality's public works enterprises are also engaged in the field. (A2 Televizion)
