Could the death of the electrician in Elbasan have been avoided? Police: The dispatcher and the team leader abused their duty

The death of the 62-year-old electrician in Elbasan might not have happened if his colleagues had performed their duties properly. According to the first suspicions of the police, the head of the OSHEE team and the dispatcher abused their duty, bringing serious consequences.

One did not inform about the intervention of the 61-year-old man in the cabin, although he himself was informed about it, while the other did not take measures for the power outage in the substation of the area where the electrician was working.

As a result, the dispatcher was arrested by the Police, while the team leader was put under investigation.

"Regarding the information given yesterday, about the AT citizen, 61 years old, OSHEE employee, who lost his life because he came into contact with the electric current, during the work to repair a defect in a cabin in the village of Muçan, we inform you that:

The Specialists for the Investigation of Crimes of the Elbasan Police Station, after in-depth investigations, carried out under the direction of the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, to clarify this case:

- they arrested the citizen AN, 58 years old, resident of Cërrik, with the duty of dispatcher of OSHEE, for the criminal offense "Violation of the rules of protection at work", as it is suspected that he did not take measures to stop the electricity in the substation of the area where the AT citizen was working;

-referred to the materials in the Prosecutor's Office, where the proceedings started in a free state for the citizen GS, 31 years old, resident of Elbasan, with the duty of OSHEE team leader, for the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", as it is suspected that he did not inform about the intervention of the AT citizen, in the cabin, although he himself was informed about this.
