Residents of the villages of Senicë, Vergo and Palavli have spoken about the fire situation in Delvinë, the consequences it has left behind and the intervention by the authorities.
"I came at 9 pm and when I arrived, I saw that the fire department had no water. Maybe it had used it up earlier, because I arrived late, but at that moment the fire department was useless. There was no water to put out the fire. A few hours later, the fire department came with water, which helped immensely. We stayed up all night putting out the fire and our houses burned down. Because we are a village that has no water and we have problems with the roads within the village," says a resident of the area.
Robert Skëndaj, head of the Civil Emergency Headquarters in the Vlora District Prefecture, made a summary of fire situations at the district level, focusing on the fires in Dukat, Finiq and Delvina.
"Yesterday we only had one fire situation in Dukat. We have this fire under full control. The problem today is the fire in the Municipality of Delvina, near the village of Senica. There was a reactivation today in Senica, where two helicopters were sent. In Ploce, the fire moved from there to Smokthina for two hours. We have not had any damage to people, but mainly to the orchards.
