Fire endangers residents in Sasaj, Himara, Balluku: They do not want to evacuate

Yesterday evening, a fire endangered homes and people's lives in the village of Sasaj in Himara. After midnight, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, was at the scene, where she stated that work is being done to manage the situation created by the flames of the fire, which is still ongoing.

Together with Mayor Vangjel Tavo, Balluku stated that several forces have been requested to assist in the evacuation of residents, who according to her do not want to leave their properties, reports A2 CNN.

"There are about 30 residents living in the area. There are more apartments. There are all the civil emergency forces, firefighters and equipment that the Himara Municipality has. We have asked for several forces to come to help. But people do not want to leave and abandon their properties."

Balluku stressed that everyone is on their feet, but the wind is not conducive to extinguishing the flames. She said that assistance has been requested from OSHE and the drainage board for submersible pumps, writes A2 CNN.

"There are active hot spots, we have requested the help of the Drainage Board and OSSHE to install submersible pumps in a canal located here in Sasaj and leading to Bunec. We are bringing all our forces."

This was also confirmed by Mayor Tavo, who said that civil emergency forces, the army, the police and others are on standby to extinguish the flames. (A2 Televizion)
