The desire is great, the readiness is also great... but Albanian businesses do not yet feel ready to compete with European enterprises. As the country strives to join the European Union by 2030, small and medium-sized businesses are looking for help, writes A2 CNN.
"First, support with the logistical and knowledge part and second, we definitely need funding to support private entrepreneurship in awareness, capital or knowledge. We also need awareness and preparation of human capital which in my opinion is the most important condition," said Nikolin Jaka, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tirana.
Otherwise, getting the green light for Chapter 20 after the fifth intergovernmental meeting held on Thursday "becomes an almost impossible mission". "Which talks about small and medium-sized enterprises, about enterprises in general... about competitiveness, innovation or foreign or Albanian investments. So it is a very important chapter", said Gravil Lasku, head of the Italian SME Financing Program.
Italy is considering giving a helping hand to Albanian small and medium-sized businesses, which has made a fund of 30 million euros available. Each enterprise can apply for financing of up to 500 thousand euros with low interest rates. "I myself have spent the last 12 years of my life in Italy and I am sure that Italy has high standards. It will give us a lot of help," said Blerta Rama, deputy minister of MEKI.
The joint program of the Albanian and Italian Governments focuses on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, through interventions aimed at creating a favorable environment and facilitating access to bank credit, to improve technology and increase competitiveness in the local and international market, through technological innovation and improving production standards.
